»  stabling

The stables usually have a hard floor that helps people when cleaning the bed and disinfection. While hard floors make this procedure easier for humans, it will be very uncomfortable for horses.

A horse can be kept more than 22 hours a day on foot, changing and alternating their weight from one hoof to the other in order to maintain adequate blood flow to the entire hoof. EQBOOTS cushions and protects your horse's feet more effectively and is a less expensive procedure than gumming the whole stable.

»  transport

videoHorse trailers are not exactly built to provide the best possible comfort to the horse's hoof. Its steel or aluminum construction includes a rigid frame that transmits all the bumps and vibrations through the floor of the trailer and goes directly into the hooves of your horse.

That's why many professionals use eqboots to transport horses from one event to another. In addition to making travel more comfortable, eqboots' anti-slip sole provides traction on loading and unloading ramps, protecting the hooves and helping to ensure a less stressful trip, and a horse that is rested and ready to carry out a new activity after the journey.

»  recovery and convalescence

In addition to daily use in the stable or during transportation of your horse, eqboots can also be part of the treatment, convalescence and recovery from adverse circumstances affecting the horse's hoof, such as:

Protecting, supporting and stabilizing an injured hoof

Use as a bandage or dressing, easy to remove for pre and post surgical care.

It can be used to cushion and protect the hooves of horses recovering from chronic lameness and osteoarthritis, navicular syndrome, etc ...

It can be used to cushion and protect the contralateral limb that supports the entire weight when the limb affected by any circumstance is free of support.

It protects the foot when there are abscesses in the hoof, puncture wounds on the soles, white line disease or crumbling processes.

We recommend always using eqboots boots both on the affected hand/foot and in the opposite hoof in order to ensure a balanced load.

»  treatment of laminitis horses

under strict supervision of your veterinarian

Laminitis is one of the most serious and devastating diseases of the horse's hoof. This condition usually induces changes in the structure of the hoof, causing a release of the plates that connect the distal phalanx and the inner wall of the hoof. The end result is the rotation of the coffin bone as a result of traction of the deep digital flexor tendon (DFT), and collapse motivated by the weight bearing on the affected limb.

The forelimbs are affected more often in horses with laminitis, as they support approximately 65% of the weight of the animal. In these patients, the elevation of the heels 12-18 degrees temporarily in the acute phase can help prevent laminar separation between the third phalanx and the hoof, or at least diminish it, as palmar tension exerted by the FDP tendon on the third phalanx is reduced between 50-60%. In the acute phase it is necessary to provide soft support and cushioning to the hoof, because, besides the pain present, in cases of rotation the coffin bone, it acquires verticality relative to the ground, making it more sensitive and susceptible to trauma.

It is for this purpose that the use of the eqboots boot is essential, prior to radiological study of your veterinarian, who will provide the necessary information on the status of the third phalanx in the hoof as fundamental for determining the palmar angle present at that moment.

With the help of the EQBOOTS, orthopedic boot, which has inside a silicone template offset by 8 degrees, we can temporarily reach the 12 to 18 degrees recommended in the acute phase.

Our studies show that the EQBOOTS boot, as a method used for lifting heels in horses with laminitis, allows the palmar angle to be significantly increased, although sometimes it will be necessary to consider the placement of additional supplements (eg. Dental Putty) in order to lift heels if together they do not reach the 12-18 degrees recommended to reduce stress of the FDP tendon on the coffin bone by 50-60% during the acute phase of the disease. Therefore, we consider radiographic evaluation necessary before and after applying any method in order to check whether the desired effect is achieved.

video It is scientifically proven that the EQBOOTS orthopedic boot provides a very thick palmar supportand its buffer capacity is between 1.2 cm at the tip of the coffin bone and 1.9 cm in the area of the palmar apophysis.

With the larger soft support, the boot was applied more quickly than any other method. This aspect is very important in horses with very sore hooves, which are not able keep their limbs raised for very long.
